About the Artist
I learned the basics of stained glass in a high school art class in Maryland. It was this exposure to the material that sprouted my love for the art form and I was encouraged to pursue my interest in an independent study capacity. Once I graduated from high school I continued to produce stained glass as a hobby, but it was not until I moved to Fargo, North Dakota that I became fully immersed in the field. Armed with minimal experience, I secured a position working under Paul Anderson at The Stained Glass Workshop in Fargo. I worked and learned from Paul for eight years until I earned my Bachelors of Architecture degree, a BS in Environmental Design, and a minor in Art from North Dakota State University, at which point I set off for a career in Architecture.
I now have over 20 years of experience in the stained glass field, including numerous large-scale installation and restoration projects. My degree, combined with years of experience in the architectural design and construction fields, have given me the knowledge to properly address the technical issues of stained glass installations, and also the vocabulary necessary to communicate with design professionals on collaborative projects. I strive to elevate the stained glass craft to an art form through the elegant and purposeful use of scale, line, proportion, and color. I have won numerous design awards and consider my art and design backgrounds to be significant benefits in the field of stained glass. Foremost, I feel my acute awareness of architectural design and historic precedent sets me apart from others in the stained glass field.
